Why would the Intelligent Designer design something as cruel as bacteria?

Category: Legionnaires' Disease

Bacterial diseases cause millions of deaths every year. They are responsible for diseases such as cholera, tuberculosis, anthrax, Meningitis, bubonic plague, diphtheria, Legionnaires’ disease, leprosy, and lyme disease. Why would a loving Designer help these bacteria out by giving them well-designed flagella that improve their chances of infecting humans?

Oh my god, you made me laugh so hard just now. You do know that without bacteria in your body, you would literally die in a second, right?

Dude, mitochondria, for one of many examples, were originally bacteria that at some point merged with our body cells. Without those, you’d insta-death. They’re basically in charge of your body.

without the bacteria you could not digest your food…

Human hate takes many more millions every year, why would an intelligent designer design humans…

  4. (9) Says:

because he loves the bacteria too. bacteria is his living creation, just as much as humans are. and bacteria are what we all originated from.

Why would a loving designer allow war and famine and genocide? This is His plan for the world and if all those things weren’t there we’d be in heaven, wouldn’.t we?

Bacteria also help you digest your food (you couldn’t live without them), decompose waste, make cheese, and so on. They are incredibly useful buggers.

I suppose that bad bacteria are mutated forms that were made by Satan after the fall of mankind caused God to turn his back on creation.

So, your logic fails. Just because you don’t understand God doesn’t mean that he doesn’t exist.

  11. Wood Uncut Says:

You’re assuming that this Designer designed the world around us humans.

But who’s to say that bacteria aren’t the centre of the Designer’s universe? They were here before us after all. And us? Mere fodder. Maybe.

I’m still on a quest for the Intelligent Design behind tapeworms. No answers yet, but I’ll let you know if one comes up.

There are two reasons that a world created by a perfect God and Creater might contain imperfections:
    1. As is the case here, the thing is good in most cases but bad in some. For example, bacteria are an absolutely necessary part of life. Another example, gravity is a law that we all appreciate, but it can kill people who are in a broken airplane.
    2. People. The world also has imperfections because God gave people the ability to choose what they will do. When people choose to drink and drive, have sex outside of marriage, etc. they bring evil into the world and upon themselves.
These are the reasons that imperfections are in this world that was created by God. Bacteria are absolutely necessary, though sometimes they can be deadly.

Because if humans step out of line then God always has the power to destroy you, the earth is God’s blessing and instrument in letting you know that you are mortal.
