What should I expect gong to the family planning clinic for contraception for the first time?
Category: Family Planning
I am going to a walk-in clinic family planning tomorrow to get the pill.
I am a teen and my mother is not coming with me.
What sort of questions will the doctor ask me and what will i have to do?
- I live in the UK

Well, I went to my GP with my mum to go on the pill when I became sexually active (I’m 15), so a walk-in family planning clinic might be a little bit different to what I experienced. But here’s how my time went: Basically I went to the doctors, he asked me why I wanted to go on the pill (contraception, heavy/irregular periods, acne, etc), asked me a few questions about my periods (how regular they are, when my last one was, etc), took my blood pressure, told me how to take it and what to do if I missed one, etc, then wrote me a prescription & off i went
Good luck & I hope this helps!
