A gastroenterologist specializes in disorders and diseases affecting the organs of the digestive system, which would include hernias, and adhesions that occur in the digestive system and abdominal pain originating within the digestive organs.

The RN above is right that a gastroenterologist is an expert in the gut, including the intestines, abdominal pain, and some hernias.
The real experts in adhesions, hernias, and some abdominal pain are general surgeons. The two will often work in tandem, so seeing either one is a good start.

A gastroenterologist specializes in this field.
(info I found)
Diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, which includes the organs from mouth to anus, along the alimentary canal, are the focus of this specialty. Physicians practicing in this field of medicine are called gastroenterologists.

General surgeon.
Gastroenterologists don’t deal with adhesions or hernias, although they do treat problems associated with intestines and abdominal pain.
