What is the likeliness of contracting genital warts after having sex with someone who has the virus?

I know a patient who has genital warts and wishes to have sex with a friend. Apparently she took the medication for it and has not shown any signs or symptoms in months. So, even if my friend wore protection, what is the likeliness that he will get the virus as well?

Once you have been infected with venereal warts, the virus will remain in your body even though the physical warts have disappeared.
For that reason, some people will experience a recurrence of genital warts even after remission. Others will never be affected by the virus again.
The safest bet is to always use a condom which will protect both partners against genital warts.
