What is the best pain relief for shin splints?
I have terrible shin splints and I need relief. I ran 3 miles yesterday when I had done so much as a leg lift in a month.

You can try to numb the pain with A LOT of ice… but you can also ask your doctor about pain relief pills, like Vicodon ….. even though I’m pretty sure you have to take several procedures before taking it…

I am a yoga teacher and massage therapist and the best advice I can give is to have a massage therapist near you do myofascial release on the fascia that surrounds the calves and tibia. Also stretching the muscles, mainly the tibialis anterior and peronius longus should help. I wouldn’t advise pain killers because it just masks the pain and you may injure yourself more seriously. Consult professional advice and this preventative care wil get you running again.
