What are the chances that my baby will inherit psoriasis from his father?

Category: Psoriasis

My husband has a mild case of psoriasis. On his elbows, knees, back and lower back. He doesn’t treat it because he says it is sometime that won’t go away, he uses certain products for relief sometimes. What are the chances our baby will get that? And can he get it on his face? Thanks

they don’t even know for sure if it’s genetic, so no one will be able to answer your question

The cause of psoriasis is not known, but it is believed to have a genetic component. Several factors are thought to aggravate psoriasis. These include stress, excessive alcohol consumption, and smoking.[1] Individuals with psoriasis may suffer from depression and loss of self-esteem. As such, quality of life is an important factor in evaluating the severity of the disease. There are many treatments available but because of its chronic recurrent nature psoriasis is a challenge to treat.

I’m not sure of the percentages but my dad has severe psoriasis all over his body. I didn’t end up getting it at all, and my brother got a very mild case on his hairline area that is easy to cover up. It’s hard to say if it will worsen with time though but it’s been the same on him for several years.

My husband doesnt have it but his brother does and my Aunt has it too.
So my daughter was born with ezema which is a mild for of psoriasis but none the less just as bad. So she had a grater chance of being born with it so I think that’s why she was born with ezema and yes she had it on her face really bad. Meds. helped a lot though. My brother in law who has psoriasis neither one of his kids have it. Ur baby may not be born with it hopefully.
