Is it possible to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from watching a graphic horror movie at a young age?
Category: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

If a young child (around the age of 7-8) watches an extremly graphic, and distubring horror movie would it be possible for them to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder?
What are your opinions on this, is it highly unlikley?

it could be, but whould the child be able to understand the plot, or just see scary images?

It actually IS possible. Because the stress level is different for different people, and different people deal with things differently. For some, witnessing a tragic car accident, or combat situation, may trigger the condition. For others something smaller such as a death in the family, or a move can trigger it.

around the Age of 7 or 8 is too young in my opinion go to see the horror movie when they are around 10 then whether they like it or not then take them to see more

Possibly the child could be so disturbed and frightened from the movie that they could develop some kind of disorder. But i think it would be more likely if it was some kind of experience they had. but i would think that movies could do the trick as well.. interesting question.. heres a star

i watched silence of the lambs when i was about 7 and i was paranoid for quite a long time. i was scared of eveything my mom had to tuck me in bed everynight, i insisted on a nightlight and that my dad checked to closet everynight. so i doubt that it is highly unlikely seeing as how frightened i became of everything.
