How to get over social phobia?
Category: Social Phobia
I have been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder (or social phobia.) It has gotten in the way of my life a little to much. I am a college student in my early 20s, so there is constant pressure of interacting with many people. Also, I am in charge of 31 people at my job. I am constantly being made fun of where I work, for my anxiety issues, (though they are not aware of my condition.) Is there any treatment other than Cognitive-behavioral therapy? Something that I can just do on my own?

Get to know yourself better. Being able to joke around with yourself in a friendly manner, rather than criticize yourself, is something more people need to do.
I was (and sometimes am) sociophobic as well. The way I pull myself out of an ‘i-don’t-want-to-be-here’ attack, is by realizing that these people are mostly self-aware. They’re not paying the slightest bit of attention to that tiny imperfect hair on your head. They are not staring or laughing at you, but much more likely they are wondering if you are staring at them. They’re internal as well, everyone is. When is the last time YOU noticed a significant defect in a person you don’t know?
