how much longer will someone live before going blind from glaucoma?

my mom is 48 and 2 weeks ago her doctor told her she has glaucoma. we were just wondering how long will it be before she looses her vision completely?

she may never if meds work,ie,drops…………….daily…………….and if caught early…..

There is no reason to ever go blind with it as long as the treatments are working to control the pressure and there is little reason for treatment to stop working.
She will be watching the great great grandchildren making a mess in the house when she is 99

if it is treated NOW and correctly then there is no need for her to lose her vision at all. Any damage already done cannot be reversed, but drops or any other treatment will reduce eyeball pressure and stop further damage.
it is one great medical advance! Please reassure your mum, but make sure she gets treated. Incidentally it is hereditary so make sure you are monitored, in the UK you get a free eye test every year after 40 if there is glaucoma in the family.
