You should try soaking your foot in some warm water and add a little foot soak or some liquid soap. Soak for about 3 minutes or so and then get a few pedicure tools like a nail clipper and a nail file.Using the nail file, slowly and gently place it under the side of the nail that is ingrown and lift, taking the nail clipper, clip the nail off working from the tip down. You must make sure you get all of it and b very careful when lifting for this could hurt the toe and it will become infected. Or u can save yourself all the trouble and seek professional help. To prevent them, I am not sure about others but I personally clip my nails often paying special attention to the edges, because ingrown nails grow into the skin thus the name”ingrown nails.” Good luck.
