How can they say there is no link between anxiety and hypertension?
Category: Hypertension

If anxiety is directly related to stress and stress is directly related to hypertension, then I am not buying it. While I have yet to be diagnosed with anxiety, I have been diagnosed with hypertension. The meds didn’t seem to make a whole lot of difference, yet I still continue to live in a constant state of anxiety. Am I really supposed to believe that treatment for anxiety will not help to lower my blood pressure?

OK let’s see here. Anxiety is not stress or at least not directly and Hypertension may not be directed to stress. Hypertension can be through over wieght, smoking, restricted blood flow and many other things. Continual stress can be one of the causes of hypertension but not the main factor. Anxiety is a mental illness not a physical illness. Many people will not admit to having an anxiety disorder and if you do have anxiety attacks then your not alone there are millions the same. I have had anxiety for 20 years and learn’t to live with all the symptoms it comes with, thumpy heart, fast heart beat even when in bed, sweating, pains in left arm and chest, dizzy, irritable, the list goes on and I have 4 attacks a day 365 days a year, smoke fags, drink coffee, eat chocolate and I’m still here taking the tabs and leading a crappy life but after 20 years there is not much that anyone can tell me about anxiety, not even the Doc’s or Specialists can do a thing and they know it. Taking tablets for anxiety may help calm you down but I doubt they will help your blood pressure that is something completely different and CAN be cured. All the best and good luck.
