My son will be 3 months old in 2 days. When he was only 7 1/2 weeks old, he was diagnosed with Pyloric Stenosis and had the corrective surgery the following day. Immediately he was doing great! Then about a week later..the whole family got hit with the flu! Including baby Evan! A few days after the flu hit, so did an ear infection! ugh! Finally, he is better now, except for lingering congestion that the dr. said can last up to a month in babies. Anyway…ever since he got the flu, his appetite has been way down..that he is barely gaining weight. (only in the 1 percentile for his weight!) I…. Click Here to Read More

Does c section increase the risk for Pyloric stenosis in infants? I am curious because I had a c-section and my son was born with this “congenital defect” requiring surgical intervention. If you don’t know the answer just say if you or someone you know had a child that had this and whether or not they had a c-section. I am curious because I read this statment below in quotes online when attempting to research this a bit more, and seeing as how it is a digestive problem I was curious to get more information!! “Babies born by c-section miss out on important bacteria that they acquire in the…. My 7 week old had surgery to correct Pyloric Stenosis last wednesday. He was slowly worked up to 3 ounces last Saturday, but since then all he wants to do is eat it seems. On Saturday I was told he was allowed to take up to 4 ounces but this would be a lot for his little belly every three hours. Well, I have to fight for him to last 3 hours in between feedings. At 2 1/2 hours he really seems as if he wants to eat and then cries a lot until he eats. Did this happen to anyone else. I don’t want to over feed him. I was just thinking that 4 1/2 ounces is a lot of a 7 week…. Click Here to Read More

Are there any mom’s out there where their son had Pyloric Stenosis? If so can you give me some feed back on how he is doing? My son was born at 6lbs 8oz and when he was about 5 weeks old he was throwing up everything for about 11 days and went back down below his birth weight. He had surgery to fix the problem and seems to be doing alot better. He is now holding everything down. he is eating 4 to five ounces and he is eight weeks old. He now weighs 9 lbs 6.5 oz. He still cant hold his head up while on belly…. Click Here to Read More
My daughter had pyloric stenosis when she was a little over 2 weeks old.( I know it’s rare for a girl to have this) She had the operation, and was fine. She is now 8 years old and has a Weight problem. I watch what she eats, but she always seems hungry. I have 5 children, and the other 4 are of average or under average size. Her father and I have also never had Weight issues. She’s going for thyroid testing saturday, but I don’t know. So, what I’m wondering, has anyone ever had an infant with pyloric stenosis who is now an older kid that has Weight or eating problems? Also, this didn’t just…. Click Here to Read More

My 9 week old DD has what we believe is Acid Reflux quite severely. Since she was about 2 weeks old she will randomly just throw up everything in her stomach. Not just a little spit up, like a full on 5 ounces splurting out her nose and mouth. It’s awful. We have her on both previced and zantac and it seems to help with her fussiness but not her throwing up. Anytime she gags she will throw up and I swear she has the most sensitive gag reflex ever. She is gaining weight really well so I never thought it could be pyloric stenosis but now I am starting to wonder. Anyone have any advice? She is…. Click Here to Read More
I have a 4 month old boy. He is my first child. This has been going on since he was about 4 weeks old. He is on zantac for reflux, and he has changed formulas 4 times now. He is on the soy base formula now. He will projectile vomit all 6 ounces right after eating it. It was only happening every 5 or 6 bottles, but now it is happening every 3 bottles or so now. I told the doctor about this at the end of december. She said that I needed to try and break every 2 ounces and give him a few minutes then start again. I have done this, and he keeps it down, unless we are on bottle #3 or #4…. Click Here to Read More
My son (6 weeks) was diagnosed with Pyloric Stenosis today and he’ll be getting surgery to repair the problem either tomorrow morning or the next day. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience dealing with this and how things went for you. I know you are all thinking “Why are you on the computer?” but I’m trying to keep busy until my friend gets here to take me to meet up with my husband and son who are at the hospital already. I’ll be leaving in an hour or so. I just need some positive experience stories right now so I can stop freaking…. Click Here to Read More

My baby had surgery for Pyloric Stenosis when he was 2 weeks old. He seems to be doing great since then. We also had another pretty serious medical scare with him, which turned out to be nothing. But I just can’t shake the feeling that he’s going to have other medical problems… He seems healthy.. He’s growing great! Hitting all his milestones… Very happy and social.. So I need to stop worrying.. So I’m hoping you will all say that your Pyloric babies had NO other medical problems……. Click Here to Read More

Since my son was around 2-3 weeks old, he has been really fussy. If he is awake, he is usually fussy. It is not screaming to the point where it is colic but definite fussiness. We know he has gas problems and figured that’s what it was (our first son had issues too) but he seems to ALWAYS be fussy. Our oldest son would just have bad bouts of gas/fussiness. Also, he is breastfed but seems to spit-up all of the time. He often chokes on it. He has also vomited twice in less than a week. The second time was today and it was yellow with some curdled chunks in it. We’ve tried rubbing his…. Click Here to Read More
My son was diagnosed at 8 wks with pyloric stenosis. His symptoms were projectile vomiting, brown vomit, lack of bowel movements, and overall fussy. We had been to the hospital 3 times before and they told us reflux disease, so we finally went to another hospital and they took an xray of his tummy, then an ultrasound. The muscle at the bottom of his stomache had grown so large it was actually cutting off the flow of food to his bowels. I started a group called infant pyloric stenosis, and I just want to know how may other parents have sons and daughters with documented…. Click Here to Read More

My baby was born at 36 weeks and currently she is 11 weeks 1 day old. Last few days she has been vomitting at least once per day. She is 100 % formula fed (similac advance powder). Her appetite has not increased and she hardly takes 2-3 ounces every 3 hours, first 2 months she gained weight too and currently she is 10 pounds. She pees fine and has one poop per day sometimes after 1 and 1/2 day. She used to just spit up as she has acid reflux and she is on zantac now. But from last week she is vomitting at least once per day. Can baby develope pyloric stenosis at 11/12 weeks? So far she has…. Click Here to Read More

Ok before you say you need to see a doctor I have already seen a doctor numerous times and they say nothing is wrong. I had hypertrophic pyloric stenosis as a baby and had sugury to remove the what they call “olive” from my intestine. I am now 24 and have the most horriable pain you could imagine in my upper stomach. It feels like a combination of servere hunger and being punched in the stomach. The area where the insision was made is slighty hard Im assuming due to scar tissue but when I mentioned having the tissue removed the doctor didnt think it was nessasary. It got so bad one time I…. I am currently 20 years old and had surgery for Pyloric stenosis at 6 weeks old. I have a very “severe” eating disorder. It is not that i don’t eat enough, it’s that I am very limited in the foods i do eat. My choices of foods are so small that i can count them on 2 hands. Mostly what i eat is very unhealthy. I have never tried a fruit nor a vegetable other than corn (which i don’t believe counts lol), I dont eat many meats besides hot dogs and chicken nuggets, and yes nuggets from like mcdonalds, wendys, and burger king, not real chicken from a KFC(if thats real) or popeyes. If i do…. Click Here to Read More

Pyloric Stenosis is a condition where the Pylorus valve which leads from the stomach to the small intestines doesn’t stop growing. The muscles grows so big that when the valve contracts to allow food to be digested the infant has projectile vomiting. My son began the vomiting at 5 weeks and we had to see about 7 different doctors until they finally diagnosed him with pyloric stenosis. He had surgery at 8 weeks to fix the condition. He is absolutely great now and his scar healed awesome too. Every doctor we talked to said this is kind of common and is almost always in the first born son…. Click Here to Read More

Okay, my sister’s oldest son (Evan) had pyloric stenosis when he was 3 weeks old. He’s fine now, of course, he had the surgery and never had a problem again. Anyway, she just had a baby on the 5th (Brantley), and she was wondering if anyone knew what the chances are of Brantley having pyloric stenosis as well. She says he’s spitting up more than normal today, and it’s coming out of his nose. We know that it is more common in first born males and that it runs in the family and all that, but we just don’t know about siblings. Can you…. Click Here to Read More
