birth control recommendations?
Category: Gall Bladder Disease

I’ve been taking Yaz for almost 3 years and am starting to get a little concerned over reports of serious side effects from it (blood clots, heart attack, stroke, gall bladder disease, pancreatitis). I know that there is a chance of side effects from any medication you take, but I don’t want to take the chance of any of those things happening to me. What do you recommend? NuvaRing? The patch? The shot?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend staying with what you have.
You have been taking it for 3 years and have not had these side effects, so it sounds like you’re in the clear.
Also, all birth control methods come with some side effects and the nuvaring, patch and the shot probably have the same risks as the pill.
Talk to your doctor about your concerns and see what he/she says.
They may recommend something else or that you stay with what you have, but don’t just switch your birth control method without talking to your doctor and doing a little research.
